In September 2015, I traveled back to England for another metal detecting tour with Steve, owner of Norfolk Metal Detecting Tours. I had detected with a few of the detectorists and there were a few new faces. In addition to great detecting except for a couple days of slogging around in the rain and mud....one of the highlights of the trip was when a person who owns and raises birds of prey showed up with his one year old Golden Eagle. The birds name was Ollie and the owner indicated he had not yet released the bird for free light but expected it would happen in the next few weeks. The group that was with Steve the two weeks prior to my arriving had found several great coins and artifacts to include some gold coins, gold torc, a small gold bar and a gold mourning ring. ( A mourning ring is a finger ring worn in memory of someone who has died, it often bears the name and date of death of the person ) the ring found by my friend Mike had a date of 7 Dec 1724. The good luck continued with our group. More gold coins, a nice gold ring lots of silver hammered coins and nice artifacts. Both Mike and I found gold coins in the same field on the same day. I have included some images of our two weeks detecting.
