We traveled out to visit some locals who live remote off the Rio Negro. They are susbistence gathers , grow and process manioc and fish. The first couple photos show their home, the next two photos show the intricate thatched roof. Also included are some photos of nut pods that were growing on the river. The pods break open the the seeds fall into the water where they are consumed by fish if they are able to break into the hard shell of the nut. The guides were always finding new jungle foods for us to try. Pods would be pulled from the trees, broken open and passed around for us to sample. There are a couple spider photos and a toucan photo. The large ball surronding the tree is a termite nest. Some nests were huge. Also the vines in the jungle will attach and wind around other plants. You soon realize when you are looking for critters to photograph that most of them are hiding from other hungry predators, making finding them harder.
