Near Manaus, the boat traveled to the confluence of the Solimoes and the Rio Negro rivers where the waters merge to form the Amazon, the largest river in the world. The brown tannin water of the Rio Negro mixes with the sandy colored Solimoes water.
Also, during the day we came across some large lilly pads. In the evening we located two Spectacled Caimans, one we were able to handle. The male caimans can grow to approximately 7 feet. The larger Black Caiman that are located further away from Manaus can grow to approximately 20 feet.
