A few hummingbird images from last summer and this summer. The lens is a Canon 500mm f4 lens on a Canon 5D MK III. I have added three extension tubes to change the focal length of the lens. This allows me to get closer to the birds. Also I have a Better Beamer lens on the front of the strobe to center the light on the birds. These images have been compressed so their sharpness is a bit soft. I hope to be adding additional photos if the birds cooperate.
In a couple of the images you will see the tongue and you can see that the birds do not always hit their target as one photo shows the tongue sliding off the side of the feeder tube.
Additionally, I have two wireless devices attached to the camera that allows me to fire the camera from a distance. One device is a basic wireless trigger, the other allows me to use my Ipad to see exactly what the camera is seeing in real time and make setting changes to the camera to include focusing without being connected to the camera. Amazing....
Also included are photos of the Broad Faced Hornet and Yellow Jackets. The Hummingbirds and the bees battle for the right to the sugar water.
